Just in case youve forgotten, your account log-in should be the same username and password youve used throughout the application process. If you are having difficulty accessing your account, you can call our office at 217-333-0302 any time between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, and we can help you out. And if you call before our release day, youll probably have a shorter wait time. Youll also be able to access your decision right away when the time comes! Tip #2: Be patient. There are going to be a lot of applicants receiving their decision on February 28. Because so many people are trying to access their decision at the same time, the system may operate a bit more slowly than normal. Her singing career took off during her early teens. Like many African Americans, she honed her musical skills in church. By 1900, she was singing and dancing in Georgia’s Springer Opera House, now a National Historic Landmark. A number of artists have performed at the theater, including Buffalo Bill, John Philip Sousa, Burt Reynolds, and Oscar Wilde. Rainey, however, stands out as one of the early greats to do so.   In addition to the career success she enjoyed as a young woman, Rainey hit a milestone in her personal life when she married performer William â€Å"Pa† Rainey on February 2, 1904. The couple performed as â€Å"Ma† and â€Å"Pa† Rainey throughout the South. Traveling so much, especially in rural areas, is what led Ma Rainey to first hear the blues, a new art form at the time.   Blues combined African-American spirituals with African musical customs, such as â€Å"blue,† or flat notes. Performers would typically repeat the same lines, and the lyrics often discussed heartache or struggles of some sort. When Rainey first heard a singer perform the blues, the woman described a man who’d left her. Rainey had never heard anything like it. Introduced in the late 1800s, the blues paved the way for several different music genres, namely RB and rock-n-roll. Ma Rainey came to love the genre so much that she soon started performing blues songs. Her performances thrilled audiences, putting her on the path to become one of the early blues greats. Some scholars have said Rainey influenced younger performers, such as Bessie Smith, the blues singer she met in 1912. But it’s unclear if Rainey really acted as a mentor to Smith, whose singing style differed from hers. Well into the 1910s, Rainey continued to enjoy musical success, performing with Fat Chappelles Rabbit Foot Minstrels as well as Tollivers Circus and Musical Extravaganza. Their shows included chorus lines, acrobats, and comedy acts. When Rainey sang at the end of the program, she looked every bit the stage diva, turning up in showy jewelry, like diamond headpieces and necklaces made of cash. She even had gold teeth, which complemented the gold gowns she wore.   A Hitmaker for Paramount Records In 1916, Rainey began performing without her husband because the two had separated. She did not publicly identify as a lesbian, but some of her later musical lyrics and an arrest for throwing an â€Å"indecent† party toward the end of her career suggest she had romantic relationships with women. The newly single Rainey performed with her own backing band, billing herself as Madam Gertrude â€Å"Ma† Rainey and Her Georgia Smart Sets. Ma Rainey was one of the earliest recording artists to perform blues music. Photo by Donaldson Collection/Getty Images Rainey cut several songs for Paramount Records in 1923. They included the hits Bad Luck Blues, Bo-Weavil Blues, Moonshine Blues, and Those All Night Long Blues. Mamie Smith recorded the earliest blues single three years before. Rainey may not have been the first blues recording artist, but she had a prolific output. She went on to record about 100 blues tracks, and Dead Drunk Blues was among the most popular. Her songs had many themes. The lyrics, like those of many blues songs, focused on romantic relationships; they also discussed drinking and traveling as well as the African-American folk magic known as hoodoo. Although Rainey started out performing in the South, the success of her records led to a tour in the North, where she had dates in cities like Chicago with her backup ensemble, the Wildcats Jazz Band. In the following years, Rainey performed with a number of talented musicians, most famously Louis Armstrong. In 1928, Rainey’s music career began to slow down, as her type of blues fell out of fashion. Paramount did not renew her contract, despite the slew of hits she’d performed for the record label. One of the last tracks she recorded, Prove It On Me Blues, openly discussed her sexual orientation. â€Å"Went out last night with a crowd of my friends,† Rainey sang. â€Å"They must’ve been women, ‘cause I don’t like no men. It’s true I wear a collar and tie. Makes the wind blow all the while.† In the promotional image for the song, Rainey is drawn wearing a suit and a hat, speaking with a few women as a policeman eyes her. The song and the image allude to a women-only party Rainey threw 1925. It got so rowdy that a neighbor complained to the police. The women were getting affectionate with one another when the officer arrived, and as party host, Rainey was arrested for throwing an indecent party. While the singer could not openly identify as a lesbian during this era, she is regarded as a gay icon today. She’s one of the recording artists featured in Robert Philipson’s 2011 documentary T’Ain’t Nobody’s Bizness: Queer Blues Divas of the 1920s. Ma Rainey’s Impact Today Although Rainey stopped recording new music in the late 1920s, she continued to perform, simply at much smaller venues than she had during the height of her career. In 1935, she retired from the industry, returning to her hometown of Columbus, Ga. There, she purchased two movie halls—the Lyric and Airdome theaters. Ma Rainey died from a heart attack on Dec. 22, 1939.   She may have been a singer, but Rainey has been a major influence on black literature and drama. Poets Langston Hughes and Sterling Allen Brown both alluded to her in their works. The August Wilson play â€Å"Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom† directly referenced the singer as well. And Alice Walker based blues singer Shug Avery, a character in her Pulitzer Prize-winning novel â€Å"The Color Purple,† on artists like Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith. In 1990, Rainey was inducted into the Blues Foundation’s Hall of Fame and the Rock Roll Hall of Fame. Four years later, the US Postal Service issued a postage stamp in the blues singer’s honor. The Open House is a 2-hour presentation to prospective graduate students, to both answer their questions and to excite them about the opportunity that C3 provides. The team met twice with the Wendy Olsen and once with Farouk. The clients and the design team used collaboration and lively discussion to develop design goals, criteria and constraints. The design team used these goals, criteria and constraints to develop the following proposal. Design Process The design team worked to identify characteristics of the current Open House through conversations with the clients about the Open House, the design team’s own student experience and focus groups that had been conducted in a previous quarter. Elements of the existing Open House and of the Antioch experience were taken as examples from which specific qualities could be discerned. These specific qualities were goals, criteria and constraints that the design team explored during the design process. The design team entered the collaborative process with an experiential, ethnographic approach. Designer-Client Conversations During our conversations we explored the open house as it currently is presented as a basis for inquiring into the intent and purpose of the Open House. Two overall design elements, that inform our entire project, were derived. These are information and excitement. Information The open house should provide information. The primary way this would be done is to anticipate questions and attempt to develop design elements that best supported that purpose. Another aspect of providing information that is often overlooked is to help participants develop and articulate new questions they may not have known to ask. In many cases it will not be possible to answer all the questions for each student in the 2 hours available for the Open House. It is important to provide direction on how to get answers to those questions. Excitement An important goal of the open house is to general excitement for the participants. The potential students should be excited about Antioch and the opportunity to enroll. Further, the faculty and staff should be excited by the chance to do something worthwhile during the open house presentation. Constraints The design team identified several constraints †¢ Time – The open house happens on a single day, in the same week as other presentations. There must be some activity for the 2 hours scheduled. Activities before and after are possible. †¢ Place – The open house happens at Antioch, in room 100. Some open house presentations use breakout rooms. †¢ Budget – There is not unlimited funds. There are funds available for ‘one time’ expenses. There are additional C3 specific funds available, as well as the budget provided by the University itself. Criteria †¢ The presentation must feature C3 as a whole as well as provide information about the specific degree and certificate programs available. Design Elements We developed several elements, three of which we will particularly highlight, and several which we have included in this proposal. These design elements have been used to develop a proposed agenda for a dynamic open house that creatively fulfills the requirements articulated by the client. Further iterative dialogue would provide the finishing touches to the proposal. Room Use – Program Dividers and Breakout Rooms In order to address the constraint of time and the quantity of information that needs to be presented we suggest reorganizing the presentation into three separate rooms. The intent of this is to allow the â€Å"main stage† to present the most critical information while offloading other information to other rooms. This addresses the issues of presenting the most interesting and essential information, supporting the goal of maintaining audience interest, while still having all the information available and allowing us a more effective use of the time. – Break the presentation into 3 main spaces/rooms Maximize information presentation in the time frame allowed o Creating multiple places for participants to move – allowing choice in how to get information and questions answered o Offload less essential information from the main presentation to maximize the effectiveness of the time for the essential information. ? Do more with less time ? Allow for different approach es to communicating the information. I. e. not just lecture or passive participation – Main Room o Main presentation. o Incorporate wall posters – or hang from ceiling in space. ? To help bracket the room. Create a more intimate space ? The idea being to have a place where interesting information is being presented in a multimedia forum where participants can come and go at leisure. Content of this presentation could include faculty interviews, a deeper history of the university, perhaps in depth interviews with employers and clients of Antioch graduates. – Experiential Room o Place where participants can experience Antioch as a student ? Interactive ? Sample of a class or lecture (each less than 15mintues ? Life as a Student ? Case Study Presentation ? Change Project Presentation ? Allowing for easy in and out movement. The overall idea behind these three rooms is to have a layout and relationship between the rooms that are compelling/inviting to for participants to want to visit. It should be easy to move in and out of these various rooms. This means that participants should feel comfortable entering or leaving these rooms at various intervals that allow for their participation in other activities. One way to facilitate this would be to have the looping media be short enough that there are opportunities to join or leave. Other activities in the experiential room should have structural breaks such that one would not feel rude entering or leaving at some frequent interval. Presentation – PowerPoint and Video In the existing open house, most of the content that fills out the structure is fluid. The static content is comprised of a PowerPoint presentation and a video. Therefore, these are the point when the most consistent information is provided. Any changes to the open house must preserve this function or find another method to provide consistent information. During our meetings with the client, we identified that the PowerPoint presentation currently contains a very important element. The video interview with an employer is an element to which many participants pay close attention. Any changes to the open house must preserve this element or devise another method for developing the same combination of excitement about possibilities and information about life after graduation from an Antioch program. The team identified several overlaps in content in the PowerPoint and video. There was video in the PowerPoint, even though there was already a video component to the presentation. The PowerPoint presentation also included elements that were repeated in other parts of the overall program, such as quotes from students. Furthermore, the quotes from students in the PowerPoint are flashed on the screen and the audience is left to read them individually, which is less exciting and engaging than other opportunities for communicating with current students. The design team approached the PowerPoint presentation with special care. As a group we are especially sensitive to the way that such presentations are often misused as a primary focus instead of being an aid to the presenter. Our group’s observations of the status quo open house included points where the participants were asked to read the slides themselves, where the presenter merely read the slide aloud and where the slides did not appear to fulfill the intention of providing information and generating excitement about Antioch. Each slide was examined for intent. This intent was then used to evaluate if the slide fulfilled the purpose it was created. The design team determined that the presentation could be both shorter and richer in content. One of the elements that we have enhanced overall in the dynamic open house proposal is the collateral information provided. Some of this will be described in the next section, but we determined that the place for information about the overall structure of C3, and the framework for the course schedule is in the PowerPoint presentation. We want to highlight the section of the presentation on which we focused the most. The design team and clients together recognized that there were a number of topics of overall C3 design that were not being communicated as well as they could be. In our meetings, we determined that very little was being said about the case study, change project and thesis. Further, the relationship between then classes was not being shown. The design team took the class schedule slides as a primary place where re-design could help with the overall goals of the open house. We developed a new, more dynamic, way to display the 2-year program that highlights the themes of the quarters: The new design also displays links between the classes and the primary projects of the degree, such as linking RP1 to the case study and connecting the classes that are components of the 1st certificate: The video interview with an employer consistently draws the attention of the participants. In our conversation, we were able to abstract from this specific instance the need to highlight what graduates of the Center’s programs do after graduating. In the previous design element we paid particular attention to increasing the chance for participants to interact with alumni, employers and RP2 host site representatives. We further support this by including alumni at each degree table. Graphics – Large Scale and Flyers During our conversation with the client we have also identified that there are important elements to the whole student career that are not well represented. There is a framework of relationships between the classes that is not well expressed by the current materials. These interconnections are an important element of information that can be provided, but is not currently well represented. Further, a well-developed and concise presentation of the framework for the student experience is likely to increase participant excitement for the program as a whole. In focus groups, the interdisciplinary, collaborative nature of the program is often mentioned as important for current students. Further, presenting the whole, instead of just components, in the presentation will model a primary element of the Antioch experience: Wholism. The client also stated that there have been times with participants would want to see the Power Point Presentation again for more details. This process is very time consuming and requires a staff member to focus a large amount of time to one participant. We suggest one new design and a redesign of existing visual aids. The new design would be a wall mounted poster listing the quarters and classes needed for completion for the C3 Program. This poster should be large enough to see from any where in the room. It would act as a visual aid when explaining each phase of curriculum, including the classes, case study, change project, Thesis, Certificates, Caucus, Reflective Practicum and the themes for each quarter. This would allow multiple people to view the poster at the same time and free up one staff member. Our next suggestion is to improve the flyers that we currently have and redesign them. Our team identified several improvements that were identified in conversations with our client. We would suggest the following flyers (see appendix for examples): †¢Center for Creative Change †¢Whole Systems Design Management †¢Environment and Community †¢Organizational Psychology †¢Graduate Certificates †¢History of Antioch †¢Frequently Asked Questions †¢Case Study Change Project The C3, WSD, GMP, ENC, and OPP would all have the same information about the first year of classes including RP1, Caucus and the Core Courses. They would also list the requirements for the Case Study and the themes for each quarter. The rest of the flyer will list program specific information including sample of classes that are required. They will have information related to alumni and where you might go after completing this program. The Graduate Certificate Flyer will have information related to these programs, including alumni and what benefits you might gain by having these certificates Our client specifically talked about the lack of information they have about the history of Antioch. The history is rich and very worthy to share with the participants. This flyer should address that information the client would like to share. While each program could include an FAQ tailored to fit their flyer, we feel that there are common questions being asked across the programs. This flyer should address those FAQ as well as information about the school. This flyer should/could go hand in hand with the C3 flyer. Information tailored to fit the entire C3 program. One of the main topics not discussed in detail is the Case Study and Change Project. In our conversations with the client, we also determined that little emphasis is placed on the case study and the change project during the entire open house. These are important elements of information, and likely to be the catalyst for excitement from the participants about the program as a whole. in focus groups, the practical component is one element than many current students cite as important in their decision to attend the university. Proposed Agenda An agenda for the evening should be prominently posted. This provides context for the experience and also will help to simulate the experience of the participants as Antioch students. The design team has combined the design elements into a program for the evening. Other design elements Playing with the constraints of time and place, this design team was able to develop several ideas that met the criteria of the open house in other formats. Antioch TV One way to generate excitement about Antioch and to develop a conduit for information about what Antioch is like for students would be to develop alternate delivery methods. For example, some Universities provide lectures via local cable or as videos that can be ordered. Presenting this first as a service to the community provides marketing as a benefit. Alternate Weekend Classes for the Community Highlighting the notion that service to the community is marketing, the design team developed the notion that C3 could offer 1-credit classes to the community on a weekend that alternated from residencies. This would provide many of the experiential, interactive elements to familiarize participants with what it is to be an Antioch student as well as performing an intrinsically good service for the community. C3 might find that this alternate weekend becomes an important part of emergent services to itself. One option would be to provide experiential labs that were optional components for students able to enroll without requiring out of town students to be on campus outside of residency weekends. This could become a bridge between providing low-residency programs and more intensely engaging programs for those willing and able. Another related notion is to provide lectures before the open house, which are part of the overall program, but not absolutely linked. After developing this notion, the design team was informed by the clients that this had been done on at least one occasion in the past. Other graphics and Packet information In order to give the prospective student better idea of what Antioch is about we propose that the information that is available include: ? FAQ Sheet o A page or two that has essential information, phone numbers, perhaps dates and times, along with recurring questions that arise in these sessions and in even in private meetings with advisors. Class Syllabus o To give the prospective student an idea of what the classes are about. They do not have to be the most current. o Maybe have them at each program table. ? Case Study and Change Projects o Illustrating some of the work that students actually do. o Invite students to practice or repeat symposium presentations ? â€Å"Life after Antioch† o i. e. , job placement study, salary surveys, employer testimonials, student/alum testimonials† o see below Alum ni Association Wendy indicated that there is a new position at Antioch specifically tasked to establish relationships with Antioch Alumni. We believe alumni participation in the Open House is critical to the success of the evening. As noted above we propose to integrate alum into the teams that staff the program tables. Additionally it would be useful for Antioch to institute a survey that would garner information about what Antioch graduates do after getting their degree. Wendy indicated more than once that the section where the employer talks in the current video is where attendees really ‘perk up’. We think this ‘post-degree’ information should be a focus of the information presented. Specific information that will be useful would be the job sectors graduates move into, perhaps a list of companies that have historically hired graduates, along with some salary survey information. Post Meeting Review Regarding the notion of having materials and the information available to fully address the participants needs it may be useful to have a post meeting debrief session. A review of things that worked, perhaps didn’t work and ways to make adjustments for future presentations. One thing we hope would come out in these meetings to get a sense of the type of people that are coming to these sessions and the type of questions are being asked. Paying attention to these elements will help keep the system at Antioch open to its potential base of students as well as providing feedback to make the Open House sessions better. Recurring questions or things that the staff find are confusing participants could be addressed in future updates to the FAQ sheet. The skyscraper fits the criteria to show the social status of such building with great height and elegance to the society. According to O'Gorman, ?architecture is a form lang uage, of communication.? (P.89) This communication is represented in the forms of texture, shape and style that reflects certain period of time. In the early period, architectures were associated with style and culture. ?The Greeks built marble temples with Doric, Ionic or Corinthian columns. Egyptian architecture used heavy lotus columns, massive battered walls and pyramidal forms. The Gothic style used point arch, vast areas of stained glasses, pointed rib-vault construction.? In law schools across the country, students are using laptops to do everything from taking notes to studying in the library to taking exams. Here is a list of things you should consider before you buy a laptop for law school. Law School Laptop Requirements Some law schools have laptop or other computer/software requirements, so the first thing you should do is check those before you buy anything; keep in mind that some law schools still arent Mac-friendly for taking exams. Laptops Through Your Law School Many schools offer laptops through their own stores, but don’t automatically assume thats where youll get the best price or the one thats best for your needs; some schools do, though, offer to increase financial aid packages in you purchase through their store. Accordingly, be sure to consider all costs when buying a laptop for law school, and be sure to check the prices in the bookstore. If you don’t purchase your computer through your school, be on the lookout for back to school deals from major retailers like Best Buy. The Apple Store also has specials that throw in something extra if you buy a Mac for school. Weight of the Laptop If you plan on using your laptop in class, remember youll be carrying it around every day along with many heavy books. Try to buy a laptop that is as lightweight as possible for your needs, but as thinner laptops can cost considerably more, be sure to balance cost as well,  i.e., carrying around an extra half pound may be preferable to spending an extra $500. If you’re not going to invest in an â€Å"Ultrabook,† you might want to consider a good and comfortable laptop bag to carry your computer in. Screen Size Keeping in mind the weight, also consider that youll be looking at your laptop a lot over the next three years, so a tiny screen probably isnt to your advantage. We don’t recommend anything under 13 inches, and anything nearing 17 inches gets heavy and more expensive. Most screens are 1080p nowadays, but something 720p will do. Buying a laptop with touchscreen functionality comes down to personal preference, but really consider whether or not you’d use this feature considering those laptops are usually more expensive. Try to find a happy middle ground between the size of screen you want and the weight youre willing and able to lug around. Remember RAM Most computers come with at least a gigabyte of RAM, which should be plenty for you during law school. That said, if you can afford to go more than a few gigabytes, your computer will run faster, and you wont have to worry about upgrading the RAM over the next three years. Hard Drive Space Youll want at least 40GB for law school, but if you also plan on storing music, games, or other entertainment as well, think about going higher. Keep in mind that given the growth of fast online storage options, local storage space has become less of a concern. If you are going to go for a more expensive computer, make the upgrade for weight or RAM rather than hard drive space. Multi-Year Warranty or Protection Plan Stuff happens. Get a warranty or protection plan for your laptop so if something goes wrong during law school, you wont have the added stress of having to pay for repairs. Getting a warranty doesn’t make not getting a case ok! Extras As we mentioned earlier, a laptop case or bag of some sort is a fantastic investment. Don’t forget about the software you need to buy, and don’t buy it without checking with your schools store. You can often get computer software, like Microsoft Office, at a large discount (or even for free) as a student. Also, consider getting an external hard drive and/or USB drive to backup your work or a subscription to an online storage site like Dropbox. If you prefer a physical mouse, you can get a good wireless one for a reasonable price.

In this sense, the burial rites and their evolution in ancient Greece was of importance since Greece is considered as the pinnacle of the earliest ancient civilizations. Burial rites underwent major transformations in ancient Greece as the civilization moved from one period to another. The practices revolved around inhumation, cremation, leaving offerings, buildings graves and tombs. Various periods had various characteristics that defined burial rites. This paper will explore the various ideas and attitudes in regards to Greek burial rites, rituals and customs that evolved over the years. The practice of burying the dead existed in ancient Greece early on and there were little changes in the basic practices. The earliest burials in Greece can be traced back to the Mycenaean period. The Mycen aean culture tended to bury the dead along with his possessions and there is some evidence to indicate that graves were being reused. The Mycenaean burial tradition is special since a connection to the dead person was always maintained. Graves typically had an altar and a funnel like structure that extended into the grave. These funnels were used to pour libations into the graves (Stevanovic 40). Inhumation was the dominant practice but there is evidence to suggest cremation as well. The dead were cremated so that their souls could leave the body easily and immediately. In addition, cremation was carried out so that the ghost of the dead would not disturb the relatives. The cremated remains were typically entrusted to an amphora that was then buried as a regular body would be buried. This method of burial was practiced just before the Bronze Age. Greek burial practices differed widely from previous ones in the Bronze Age. Previously both adults and children had been cremated or had been alternatively buried as per the dominant cultural trend. However, in the Bronze age it was common that the adults would be cremated while the children would be buried. The only common feature in these burials was that both were inhumed either in pit graves or in chamber tombs as per social status. It was typically to bury items of personal possession as well as items related to daily use. An exploration of graves and tombs from the Bronze Age in Greece has revealed that burial areas contained utensils, cooking pots, oil flasks, jewelry and in a few cases weapons. It is believed that the weapons have been removed from the graves of adult warriors. In certain cases, offerings of food and drinks were also buried with the dead, perhaps with the view that the dead may require this for his journey into the afterlife. It must be noted that graves from this period did not contain the funnel like structures from the previous periods and libation into the grave was not possible. Addition ally, since the buried person was already cremated, there was little possibility that libation could be poured into the amphora. Average one year of newborn baby in Malaysia was 20.41 out of 1,000 population. Kids need toys and plays to entertain them and learn things. So I do believe that when we were young, we used to spend a whole day long sitting in the middle of living room playing toys with brother and sister. Inmy childhood of 90s,we play toy soldier, lego, dolls, puzzle, masak-masak (it means cooking in Malay language) and etc. Playing was fun. We can turn our toys to be anything that we want it to be. This is where we can slowly build up and develop our creativity through toys and absorb to brain. And nowadays we can see that a lot of kids hanging Ipad in anywhere along with parents. No matter they were pooping, shopping, or eating, It has becomes an essential for them, not only for kids, It is also an important source of relaxation and stimulation for adults too. Besides, a lot of adult used IPad in their work too. Play is part of their job, part of learning, to work through difficult situation, to gain experience and life skill. They could practice the basic life skills through playing or toys. In this research, I am going to write about howtoys and playscan influence kids to become creative. To work out with toys, the firstthing we must know is how to choose a right toy for our children. When we are planning to buy a toy, we should concern about our kid’s personality, interest, like or dislike and check out for the toy safety standard, but not just simply buy it by ( Alvin Eden, MD 1998 ). So we suggest that parent should buy toys that are not directly tied to the particular theme. It has explained the nine stages of human developing from infancy to late adulthood. In the stage of Initiative vs. guilt which means kids are in age of 4 to 5, they are started to feel curiosity on everything. We should foster their curiosity and the sense of adventure in kid’s learning stage. Trying to play with toys and answer their question to let them learn or parents can play belong with them such like pretend play. This could make them learn the imagination. Research Methodology Research Strategy I am using different kind of techniques like observations, interviews and surveys, I would like to examine on play based learning in individual participants and apply to ethnographic data on it. I will prepare some surveys and questionnaires, and having a 10 minutes of the interview to the couple or parents to answer my questions. Besides that, i will arrange the kids who are from those parents that i having interview for having fun with toys and i will asking them some of the ideas and thoughts from them for helping me to complete my research. I will be choosing some specific toys such like wooden blocks or lego. I will also ask for their opinion if they like or dislike the toys and ask for their reasons. Through the data collect by surveys, I will choose to analyze the facts by using qualitative research. In last, I also will use literature review in helping me to understand this topic more and to support my research. Audience Social Contexts My target audience would be those couple who just married and ready to have a baby and parents that have little kids at home. Why my target audience would be them? Because for new born parents they have no experience in choosing children’s toys. My research would be a guide for them. Design Contexts My design context in my research is purposely for education.Because toys can be separate to different types. Example like books, musical toys and so on. So children can learn through this kind of stuff. But Besides education, it is also a guide to the parent and couple who ready to have a baby. Toys can said is an important play to our children or kids. Why we said so? Because a good toy it will help our children to point out their abilities. A good toy can develop and influence our children’s thinking, their interest and even children’s creativity. In my research, it related to art and design. Toy can branch out a kid or children’s creativity, their playing situation and their playing performance. From this way parent can know that what are their children’s interest, like or dislike. Besides, toy also can release stress and enjoy the happy hour with children. Last but not least, Toy and play are related and connecting with art and designs. Key Terminology I would be choosing qualitative research for my key terminology. I will try to make a survey and pass out to the couples who are just get married and parents from age 25-35 to gather up the needed details for my qualitative research. Ethical Consideration Toys are much more useful than just being influence creativity. There are a lot of advantages and disadvantages. The advantages of playing toy are letting your kids have a chance to play with sibling or friends. It can make you stay close with your friendship or even meet some new friends too. Besides that, it can reduce stress too, although kids normally don’t have too much of stress, but when parents play along with their kids, they can connect with their kids, reduce the stress from working and the most important is can closer relationship between kids and parents. Summary In summary, Toys are bringing enjoyment and happiness to kids. It can be a learning tool that could lead your kids to be success in their life too. Toys could enhance kids’ cognitive behavior and stimulate creativity. It helps your kids to develop their mind to be creative, share their thoughts and idea to guide the whole world into the new era. Kids are our future, nurturing them when they are kids.

Assume the Risk

Before an organization makes the decision on whether or not to assume the risk for a hosted event, there are four key factors that must be considered.First, the organization must consider the purpose for holding the event.   Does the purpose further the goals of the organization or business in a positive manner?   Will the event generate revenue or funds?   Is the event meant to stimulate interest or engagement?For any of these stated reasons, it may be logical for an organization to assume the risk of hosting an event.   If the answer is rather more trivial, the risk may not be worth the consequences.Second, the organization must consider the cost to host the event and the general return on cost versus the risk taken in hosting.   If it is anticipated that the return will far outweigh the cost, it may be determined that the risk of hosting is negligible and therefore the event should commence.   If the benefit does not outweigh the cost, the risk may be too high.Third, t he organization must consider the venue for the hosted event.   If it is a venue personally owned or controlled by the organization, it is more logical to assume the risk of hosting.   If the venue is outside of the control of the organization, risks soar and the benefit may not outweigh the outlay.Finally, the organization must consider the long-term impact of hosting an event.   Is it likely to create business or impact reputations far into the future, or is the impact more immediately felt and faded?   Events can often be used to the advantage of an organization to build a long-term memory of what that organization can do, but it can be just as easy for an organization to be looked upon poorly if an event goes awry.It is always wise to weigh all angles before any assumption of risk is ever accepted.   When an organization plans an event, much long-term impact can be mitigated with short-term planning.

Parkinson s Disease A Progressive Disorder - 1751 Words

Each year more than 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease (PDF, 2014). That sixty thousand does not include the many thousand cases that go undetected each year. Parkinson’s is a progressive disorder that occurs in the nervous system. This disease affects a person’s movement. Parkinson’s disease develops progressively. The most common first sign of Parkinson’s is slight shaking of a body part. In the initial phase of Parkinson’s a person will experience slurring of speech and an expressionless face (Mayo Clinic, 2014). With time, the symptoms of Parkinson’s exacerbate. Parkinson’s†¦show more content†¦Another cause can be the existence of Lewy bodies in the patients brain. Lewy bodies are bundles of certain substances among brain cells. Within Lewy bodies a protein termed alpha-synuclein is present (Mayo Clinic, 2014). Researchers say that synuclein is an immense factor in Parkinson’s disease. Environmental toxins can also increase the decay of neurons. A few of the toxins that have been associated with Parkinson’s disease consist of carbon disulfide, commonly found in many gases released from the earth’s surface, manganese, found in iron and steel, and carbon monoxide, which is the gas produced by cars (WebMD, 2014). All of these factors lead to patients showing signs and symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. The most common sign of Parkinson’s is shaking of a patients body, most commonly the hands. With time these symptoms worsen and can become as serious as having difficulty swallowing in the later stages of the disease (WebMD, 2014). The symptoms that occur in between these two stages vary greatly. A symptom that develops shortly after the beginning stage is bradykinesia, slow movement (Mayo Clinic, 2014). This affects a person’s ability to walk or even the capability to get out of bed. Another symptom such as muscle rigidity occurs in numerous patients. This muscle stiffness can arise in any part of a victim’s body. This decreases a person’s area of movement because of the immense amount irritation that takes place.

First American Woman to Vote - Claimants

An often-asked question: who was the first woman to vote in the United States, the first female voter? First Woman to Vote in America If that includes in the area that later became the United States, there are some candidates. Some Native American women had rights to voice, and what we might now call a vote before European settlers arrive. The question usually refers to women voters in the new governments established by European settlers and their descendants. European settlers and their descendants? The evidence is sketchy. Women property-owners were sometimes given and sometimes exercised the right to vote during colonial times. In 1647, Margaret Brent of Maryland colony assumed her right to vote twice -- once for herself as a property owner and once for Cecil Calvert, Lord Baltimore, because he had given her a power of attorney. The governor denied her request.Deborah Moody, in 1655, cast a vote in New Netherlands (which later became New York).
